IF TODAY WAS YOUR LAST DAY
How would you spend your last day on earth?

A Personal Anthology: IF TODAY WAS YOUR LAST DAY...

What if it were your last day?
How would you feel?
What would you do?
What would you say?

Imagine those people who were told it really was their last day or week or month to be with their loved ones. Cancer patients, heart patients, children with leukemia, children waiting for organ donors… What if it was your sister or one of your parents that had days to live? How do you think they’d want to spend those days? How would you spend those last days? Just STOP AND THINK for a minute. Just imagine that you have one last day on this earth, where you’ve been all your life, with your family and friends, going to school or work every day… Now that’s all going to end. How would you spend that day that will end your last chapter, and close your own book of your life? Would you spend all your money on presents for your loved ones, or maybe donate it all to charity? Would you go and visit the places you had always dreamed of visiting, or would you spend time with your family and friends all gathered together? Maybe you’d rather spend it alone? Everyone is different and everyone would spend their last day differently, so that’s why I created this webpage for everyone who has an opinion about this subject to comment about the short stories, poems, images, non-fiction and music all about if today was your last day.

As I read the two short stories I have on my webpage, “The Last Leaf” and “The Cellmate”, I found that they each had two different ways of looking at the concept of your last day. In "The Last Leaf", Johnsy actually wants her last day to come, while as in “The Cellmate”, we can guess that Lloyd doesn’t want to die. I believe that you should live your life WITHOUT WORRYING about when you're going to die and just live each moment to the fullest.

The three poems I chose all have the same names, so I just labeled them as poems 1, 2 and 3. While I was looking for poems, I wanted to find some that had meaning and would be suitable for my theme. I found these three and I really think they’re poems that make you think about what you would do. Poem #3 is definitely my favourite because of the way the patient jumps out of bed and writes apologies to his loved ones and how his family forgives him, but it’s too late for he has already passed away. I think out of all the poems, this one is the one that shows how much FORGIVENESS is important.

The non-fiction text for me was really realistic, and that was the reason why I chose it. The song and the official video of the song (Nickelback-If Today Was Your Last Day) are definitely, in my opinion, the best song and video for my theme. The song anyway is just an amazing song all by itself! It just has so much meaning and it’s the song that inspired me to choose this theme for my webpage. It talks about how today could be your last day, that EACH DAY IS A GIFT and you should be happy that you get to live it. It also talks about what you could do if today was your last day. The video is obviously completely linked to the song, and I think the way they put the video together is really nice because every time I watch it, it just makes me SMILE.

Also I have a couple of images about what I would do on my last day.

I hope this webpage and all its contents really make you think about and appreciate life. Always remember the saying "Live each day like there's no tomorrow."
